Picture This! Visual Meaning Making in Theory and Practice

Visuelle Zeichen durchdringen alle Bereiche unserer Kommunikation – in Alltagspraktiken, Wissenschaft, Kunst, Technologie oder Bildung. Ob in Gebärdensprachen oder manchen Schriftsprachen, in Comics, Infografiken, Protestbildern oder in Emojis gestützter Kommunikation: Ikonische Sprachsysteme ermöglichen es, komplexe Inhalte durch visuelle Ähnlichkeiten zu vermitteln, die auf kulturellen Mustern des jeweiligen medialen und sozialen Kontextes beruhen.

Um diesen Themenkomplex genauer zu erforschen findet vom 29. Juni bis 03. Juli 2026 eine Summer School mit anschließender Konferenz an der Uni Potsdam in Zusammenarbeit mit Partnern des EDUC statt.

Zum Einstieg beschäftigt sich das Programm der Summer School mit Fragen zu "Visual Meaning Making in Theory and Practice". Die anschließende Konferenz vertieft die Ergebnisse und befasst sich intensiv mit aktuellen interdisziplinären Perspektiven auf die Funktionsweise visuo-ikonischer Kommunikation.
